Flying from Boston to Rome economically

I was wondering if anyone has flown into London and used Ryanair or Easyjet? I realized that we might be able to save a decent amount of money if we fly to London and then fly with Easyjet to Rome. I think we might need to transfer airports though (Heathrow to Gatwick) ... any ideas if it's worth the trouble? Thanks!

Are you planning on flying round trip to and from someplace, or starting in one city and leaving from another. I have been doing a lot researching of airline prices and if you are trying to go to rome, it seems the best choice is to fly directly there. You most likely will have on layover but it should still be cheaper than flying round trip to england then boarding an inter-continental flight to rome.

Not sure when you are planning on going but swiss air seems to be one of the lowest fairs i have found. Only minus side is that your layover in Zurich is about 4-6 hours but for around $700 roundtrip i wouldnt mind it.

We are probably going to fly into Rome and then fly out of Athens. Thanks, I think the cheapest airfare I've found so far to Rome is a little under $600 for the one way ticket. It probably does make more sense to just fly directly there even if it is a little bit more expensive ...

Marie,
Just want to make sure that you know how to search for "open jaw" airfares. For most search engines click the button for "Multi-City" so that you can check the fare into Rome and home from Athens (or vice versa.) Kayak.com might be a good one to start with!

I agree with Conors' post above!

Thanks wow, I've never used the multi-city function before. I will definitely look into that and maybe it will be more affordable than the 2 one way tickets. Thanks!
