When flying AF from SEA to Toulouse does anyone know if I have to go through security at CDG? I see the SEA flight lands at the same concourse as the flight that takes off for Toulouse.
Typically, but not always, you will go through Passport Control (Immigration) when you land at CDG or any first stop in a Schengen Country. I do not recall a Security check before moving to your connecting flight.
If you pass through immigration you will then enter the unrestricted area outside of the arrivals hall. You will then have to go through security again before entering the departure gate area.
Ed is correct. Immigrations dumps you outside of security and you to go through security for domestic flights.
I flew AF from SEA to Paris, changed planes, and then flew on to Istanbul.. I had to go thru security again in Paris when walking from the arrival gate to the departure gate. This was in 2010.
Just last Saturday I flew home from Toulouse via CDG (Air France) and in that direction we had to do security in both airports. We also did passport control at CDG. I would add that our conection time was just over 1.5 hours but we really had to hustle to make it. If you have a similar amount of time my suggestion is to move as quickly as you can.
I just did this also about 3 months ago. I had a little over 2 hrs between flights which I thought was plenty of time. I was surprised when you end up outside the airport after customs and so had to go through security all over again when you re-entered. I had just bought a bottle of water in one building of the airport thinking I just had to walk to the other gate. When I had to go through security again they took the water.....even though I had just bought it inside the airport.....oh well. The 2 hour layover was just enough time. I think I only waited at the connecting flight gate for about 15 minutes before we boarded.
According to European regulations, all passengers arriving from outside EU/EEA countries are considered "unclean" and are subject to screening before let in to the sterile area to a connecting flight. It's the same in the US BTW, but in the US, it's also because you have access to your bags when connecting from abroad.
