flyin out on a Sat

Since I am doing a RickSteves 2week Pelops tour (they start on a Monday), either the Oct 3 or Oct 10 start date. For the 3rd start, I cannot leave sooner than Satrday, oct 1. For the 10th start date, I was planning to see Santorini and Delos before the trip, still leaving me to fly in on Oct 1. I can't seem to find a way out of flying Oct 1.

How is the Oct. 1 date a problem? It seems to me that you can do either tour after flying Oct. 1 and arriving Oct. 2. The advantage, as I see it, to the Oct. 10 tour is that you will have had plenty of time to recover from jetlag and may be in better condition to enjoy the tour. Please elaborate on your dilemma, if Oct. 1 is a problem.

I'm sorry, I meant to attach this to my previous posting, I'm not sure why a new 'Post' was made. I apologize for that. 1. In my previous post for October Air Travel, a person commented that flying between Tuesday - Thursday you get the best discount on a seat/ticket. My comment states that b/c I am flying in for a RS trip that begins on a Monday in Athens (whether it is the 3rd or 10th). 2. I'm also trying to find the best manner in which to fly business class at under $4,300 - that is the best price I have found from Pittsburgh to Athens. Should I just book a cheap seat...and hope that the airline gets ahold of me to let me know I can upgrade for a nominal fee? EXTRA: During the trip over, I want to make plans to see Santorini and Crete. I have had a commenter tell me to see Santorini, take the Oct. 10th RS Tour, then go to Crete. While I've had others tell me to take the early Rick Tour, then fly to Santorini for 4-5 days, then onto Crete for 2 weeks.
Any thoughts on this as well would be greatly apreciated.

It is very simple, when you click on Start A New Topic you start a new topic and when you click on Reply you reply. I know it would be too simple to copy your new topic, delete the new topic, and then paste it as a reply under your original topic.

Thanks, Frank.
It is self explanatory, for certain. However, I was on my Blackberry and wasn't getting a clear signal at all and it was skipping around a little and I think that is how it happened. I am really looking forward to responses with my questions as I am trying to tighten up all of th eplans this weekend, or at least within the next few days.

Just for clarification, I want to add this to 1. question" 1. In my previous post for October Air Travel, a person commented that flying between Tuesday - Thursday you get the best discount on a seat/ticket. My comment states that b/c I am flying in for a RS trip that begins on a Monday in Athens (whether it is the 3rd or 10th).
EITHER TRIP I TAKE, I'LL PRETTY MUCH BE LOOKING TO FLY OUT ON A SATURDAY. I THINK THE CONCERN OF THE OTHER POSTER/COMMENTERS FOR ME WAS PRICE FOR THE FLIGHT AND MORE DELAYS B/C OF IT BEING A WEEKEND (SAT) FLIGHT.

I think that Saturday is the 3rd best day to fly as far as pricing goes. But really, more critical than day of week, is time of year, of which October is normally one of the better. Many times the difference between days is not more than $75. As for business class, I would agree to buy coach and look to upgrade unless you have lots of money or a specific need to buy business class. If you are looking for more leg room, you can often buy an upgrade to economy plus type seats for way less than business class.

But you can only upgrade certain economy fare classes and these are always the more expensive fare classes. The cheapest fare class is not upgrade on most airlines.

Thank you to everyone who has responded with your information. You were all really helpful. Yes, I agree, a couple of bucks is not enough of a difference to change your flight itinerary. I'm glad you had informed me of how much of a difference there is in the prices. I'm sorry for the confusion I created with the accidental new post, instead of adding to my original post. Again, this was an accident I had with my phone and the insufficient signal I was receiving. Even so, the information you all gave me was very helpful. Frank, what kind or type of Economy tickets do I need to buy in order to be able to upgrade? Thanks
