florence train Rifredi station

Is there as easy way to get from the rifredi station to the city center? How much is a cab fare. The rail price is approximatly 80 euros cheaper

Most any Regionale train run coming in from Pisa stops at Rifredi before coming into the main train station. You don't indicate what time you will be arriving at Rifredi. Some sleeper trains stop there. If its really late at night, you may need a taxi. But, if during the day, you should be OK. Lots of commuting from Rifredi to the main train station so there will be trains. Taxi fare from the airport is about 25E so the fare from Rifredi should be less. But, I'm not sure here.

Where are you coming from? Does the train end ar Rifredi, or stop there and then go on to Santa Maria Novella? And the difference of 80 euro[INVALID]-what is that comparing the Rifredi option to? It seems like a huge difference.

FWIW, I've just gathered info that says there are trains every 10 mins b/n RIFR and SMN during peak hours; the trip takes 5 mins and costs ~€1,10 (2009 price)........ALSO, another (Italian) source says that if you've just arrived on a ticket into RIFR, you don't need to purchase another ticket to go on into SMN (similar to many other multi-station cities).......Surely the €80 difference is b/n a regionale and a high-speed train......Cab fare can't be that much...According to my RS Italy 2007, fare from SMN to Ponte Vecchio was €8,50; buses were €1,00 (good for an hour). There are buses at RIFR. My husband and I rode buses all over Florence a few years ago - loved them. Kept to a schedule (shock LOL)! And I've seen taxi fares of €15,00 b/n the airport and Oltrarno; RIFR is closer than the airport. Sorry this seems a little 'rambly'!

>> you don't need to purchase another ticket Darn, we did! We purchased tickets to go from station to the closer station. No big loss.
