florence to the amalfi coast

I am traveling to Italy this summer and would really like to go somewhere in the Amalfi Coast, but I am finding it very difficult to figure out how to do it.

Ideally I would like to go to Positano or somewhere with a beach and those gorgeous views! We will be carrying luggage and it seems that all the boats are small. Are there other ways of getting there, maybe by bus or train??

I've also heard that staying in Sorrento may be an easier option. Thoughts??

Take a Trenitalia train from Florence to Naples and a Circumvesuviana commuter train from there to Sorrento. Take a SITA bus from Sorrento to Positano.

Marisa, good advice to take train to Naples and then SITA bus. Make sure you find a day to go to Ravello on the coast. One of the most amazing places I've ever seen.
