Florence to Salerno Trenitalia booking

Is there a certain time of day Trenitalia s its schedules? I checked at 2 AM EST and couldn't book, but at 6 am of course the mini rate seats were sold out. And if I had not booked in advance, would that mean we wouldn't have been able to get seats on that particular train...or do they add seats closer to the date? I "practiced" with our Venice to Florence leg since it was not as critical; Florence to Salerno (Sat, Sept 7)is a little different. We are staying in Positano and hope to hop the ferry from Salerno to Positano. We were advised to arrive in Salerno BEFORE 3 pm to catch that last ferry. But the earliest trains from Florence seem to arrive after 3:30. Can I check those ferry schedules yet? I am aware that I can take a bus, which is what we would do if the weather was bad, but wonder if it would be wiser to simply take the train to Naples and hire a driver/tour guide to make the trip to Positano. We will have Sat afternoon thru Wed morning (flight lvg Naples 2:40 pm)to boat/bus/hike around the area; really want to make the best use of that travel day. Also...will it be difficult to switch trains in Naples if we can't get a direct? I know it is a crazy place. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Summer schedules should be fully loaded by now - be sure to put in the time of day you want to depart before the schedule pops up. The Napoli Centrale station is easy enough for changing trains, it's a railhead station so you won't have to use stairs to get from one track to another, unless you are switching to the Circumvesuviana, which is downstairs and requires a separate ticket.

Thanks Zoe...looks like I wasn't ing an early enough departure (or it may have been sorting by arrival)and I do see some options arriving before 3 pm. The ferry schedule I found indicates the last one leaves at 3:30 for Positano. I'm actually looking into a BnB in Salerno instead of Positano...can't talk myself into it yet...we'll see. I am still curious what time in the morning Trenitalia adds the next days schedule so I can get the super economy tickets. It is in the middle of the night (for me)that's for sure and I'll have to set my alarm for 3 or 4 am and see if I can snag a couple.
