Wondering about renting a car in Florence and dropping it off in Toulouse. Are there aways steep drop off charges for dropping off in different country?

Hi mm. Yes, there are normally steep drop off charges for dropping in a different country. Just try a sample on Avis, Hertz or Sixt website and you will see. Depending on your itinerary, you may want to rent and drop in Italy, train to France, then rent again. Or rent in France, drive to Italy and then back to France. Enjoy your trip!

Travel by train will be easier, probably faster and possibly cheaper. There are usually steep charges for renting in one country and dropping in another. You'd also have to be aware of the usual "caveats" when renting cars in Italy, so the trip could end up being far more expensive than anticipated.
