This will be my first time to Italy and would like to travel from Florence to the Cinque Terre area. How (and what) train would I take?

http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en By train. The above site gives you the train schedules, it's the German Bahn site but is the most user friendly site for train schedules for Italy. Input Florence or Firenze (Italian name of Florence), either one, as your starting station, and pick one of the Cinque Terre stations as your destination station, pick any date (you're not using the Bahn site to buy tickets), and it will give you the schedules.

Hi Ernest. Another recommended site is the official Italian train site trenitalia.com. For the Florence to CT trip, probably no advantage to buying your tix in advance online. But if you are taking other trips, you may or may not decide to buy online for a discount fare. Enjoy your trip!
