We are doing a bike trip in Hungary/Slovenia next September and would like to visit Florence first. Does anyone have suggestions about the best way to get from Florence to Bratislava? An alternative is to Vienna. Thanks.

Vienna has flights from Florence with Tyrolean Airlines (one daily). Bratislava has only Ryanair flights from Bergamo (BGY) and Rome Ciampino (CIA).
Another option is the train, but it's a long way.

Hi, If you choose the train option, I would recommend the CNL night train Florenz-Munich, arr. 06:30. Give yourself ca. one hour, then take the Munich-Bratislava (Preßburg) train, dep. 07:27. You'll need to transfer in Vienna, it's easy, all connected by the underground, arr. 13:22 in Bratislava. If your terminus is Vienna, the Munich train ends at Wien Westbahnhof, a very convenient station, refurbished and expanded.

Thanks so much for the info. Think we will try the overnight train to Munich with connections next morning. Are there particular sites for train reservations that are best for this? I have looked at several and maybe it's too early, but I don't see the CNL overnight booking option. Linda
