I see that the Bus terminal is only 3 miles from the airport. My son arrives at 2:05 in Florence and needs/wants to catch a 2:40 bus to Siena. Any chance of that happening? Otherwise, he needs to wait until 5:30 for the next bus to Siena. (Sunday arrival cuts down the options!). Are there any private services that we could use?
Joanna, Here are your options http://www.aeroporto.firenze.it/EN/index.php?percorso=contents&jk=17&curr=0 click on to/from airport.
I don't see you making the early bus but you could make the 15:38 train.
Thank you Henry - I believe that the train takes him outside of the old city. He is going right downtown.
I suppose he could hire a taxi from the train station into town.
It won't hurt him to hang around the train station until the next available bus departs for Siena. The buses are just next door to the train station. A private car service would be extremely expensive.
Joanna,
Across frm the Siena train station the are buses into town. There is also an escalator to take you close to town, we are talking less than a kilometer to the edge of town. A taxi almost anywhere in town will be less than 10 euro.
Thank you both so much. I don't know why I didn't think of the train.......and then even a taxi into town!
(first time he's traveling alone....I know, he'll figure it out, he's 20 and has travelled a bit, but always with groups!)
