Flights - Marseille, France to Edinburgh, Scotland

I will be on the Best of Eastern France tour in Sept. 2026 which ends in Aix-en-Provence and traveling to my next destination – Edinburgh, Scotland.

Looking for recommendations for efficient travel. Ryan Air has one direct flight, leaving at 5:55am (much too early). All other airlines, have connections which I’d expect. I've thought of mixing up flights and trains, London, Paris....all of which seems a bit more involved and timely.

I’d much prefer jumping on a train, but that’s an all-day adventure – 12 hours.

Thank you.

I'm with you. 5:55 am would be a no go for me . I'd go with the BA thru London if the price works for you. The advantage is there are multiple flights from Heathrow to Edinburgh if your flight out of Marseille is delayed.

Don't forget you'll need an ETA for traveling to the UK.

Ryanair also fly from Marseille to Manchester on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday- from whence there is an hourly train service to Edinburgh direct or a same platform change at Lancaster or Carlisle on alternate hours.
On those trains from MAN airport you can book an Advance Train specific fare, which is changeable by 2 hours, if the flight is late, subject to having allowed a minimum 1 hour connection time off the flight.

It looks like the tour ends on a Saturday. There is a Sunday night flight, departing at 10:30pm, arriving just after midnight. Not ideal, but an extra day in Provence never hurts.

Jean – checking out BA flights and thank you for the reminder to apply for ETA. I have app already on phone, good to go. I'd be toast with 5:55a flight.

Isn31c & G3rryCee – thank you for all the information. I am planning on flying out Sat. at this point.
