Does anyone know of inexpensive regional airlines that connect these too cities. The only thng I can find so far is Alitalia and it is $270.RT. Thanks!

Try AirOne. English version of their website is www.flyairone.it/en/. They offer 4 daily flights between Rome and Catania. For mid-September flights, website quotes EUR 115.50 round trip including taxes. I've flown AirOne to Sicily with good experience and others on Graffiti Wall have given it positive feedback. Note: if you want to buy e-tickets on their website, use a credit card with first and last name only - no middle name or initial.
