I am going to fly from Munich to Prague. I know the train/bus is cheaper but I am going to be at the airport after being dropped off by touring company after hiking for a week. So doesn't it make sense to fly? I have two questions. 1. I will be at Munich's airport 7 days prior to flying to Prague so is this enough time to get a ticket? If not, how do I go about getting a ticket? Thanks
That might depend on the timing of flights and what time you are going to be "dropped off" at the airport. There are two of those intercity Bahn buses that stop at the airport at 13:35 and 16:35 and take a little over 4 hours to the Prague Hbf.
Carmelita, As Lee mentioned, travel by Bus would probably be a quicker method than a flight, especially as the Buses stop at the airport. If your drop-off time doesn't "fit" with the times the Bus will be at the airport, you might ask the tour firm if it would be possible to end your trip at the HBf in Munich. That would provide you with a greater range of choices for both Bus or train. Buying a ticket seven days in advance is usually not far enough to get the best prices. You might end up paying a small fortune for the tickets! GermanWings has flights listed for about €95, but that price will likely increase as the flight fills. Keep in mind that you'd need to check in about two hours early, flight time is 3.5 hours, that flight has a layover in Cologne, and you'd need to allow time to get from the Prague airport into town (with baggage collection, add about 1.5 hours). OTOH, the Bus will likely terminate at a more central location. If you arrive at the rail station in Prague, one tip - DON'T use the "no neck thugs" (Rick's terminology) that run the Taxi service from the station. The Guidebook lists better options. Happy travels!
