Flights from DC to Rome then Naples back to Roem

I am going on my honeymoon next July from the 1st-12th. I know it is the PEAK season and everything will be more expensive. I am looking into flights and right now I am getting 1,120 (taxes included) with Iberia Airlines. It stops in Madrid then to Rome. My main question is should I go ahead and purchase now or wait until Jan? I am nervous to wait because I don't really want to pay over 1300-1400. I hear that rates seem to go down in January but based on your experiences is this a decent price for the time I will be traveling to Rome? Thanks in advance for your input!!!

Yapta is a website that allows you to enter the info either before you buy tickets (it sends an email alert when prices go below an amount you choose) OR after you have already purchased, in many cases you can get a refund from the airlines if prices go down. It's worth checking out.

Hi Whitney,
Did you check the fares for United? United flies direct to Rome from Dulles. Last April/May when I flew this route, the flight was in the $800 - $900 range. I bought my ticket in January. HOWEVER there are two things that don't quite make this a fair comparison.

1) United just started direct service from IAD to Rome last spring so they initially had some promotional fares and

2) It was NOT the peak season.

So that gives you an idea of what an off-peak price might be. I would compare the fare with the United fare. I would also use either sidestep.com or kayak.com to see if there are any other options.
