Flight tracker question

I’ve never done this and don’t understand. Hopefully someone will hold my hand and walk me through it. Are these apps? Is there a great one most use?

Do you enter the exact day and flight you want? How does it notify you when prices go lower? Any suggestion are appreciated.

I’d like to go to London from the Midwest in January. I thought the prices would be lower that time of year, it’s around $1k. I prefer Delta.

I use Google Flights. It's easy—just visit the website, plug in your dates, departure and destination cities, and it will show you the flights for most major airlines. If you want Google to keep tracking this flight for you, just toggle the "on" button next to the words "Track prices" and Google Flights will continue to send you emails when those prices go up or down. https://www.google.com/travel/flights?gl=US&hl=en-US

You can enter the exact dates if you know them, but you can also search a variety of dates if you want to get more than one price. You can use filters to narrow down your search by specific airlines, whether you want a round-trip ticket, or multi-city (open jaw), the number of layovers, etc.

I had to press "SEARCH" and then the next page came up where you can toggle for "Track Prices". It's a great feature.

I have not been happy with the timing of the alerts from google flight tracker. A few times, I was altered to a price drop after the price had dropped and already come back up. So, if you use it, I would still continue to check the airline’s website too.

I do like the flight tracker to see the history of the price changes. This lets me know if the current price is high or low.

Are you flying out of O’hare? I flew recently Chicago to London and my price was $921 on British Airways, which I consider to be a really good price for getting to Europe. Many of my flights have been in the $1500 range. These are all for economy. It seems we pay more the luxury of a nonstop flight.

If you are flying from O’hare, unless something has recently changed, your options for a nonstop to London are British Airways, American, and United.

I just booked my flights for my Sept. trip. If you see a price you can live with, I would book it now.

If you need a car service to get you to and from the airport, this is the one I use:

They are very reliable. I’ve been using them for years now. My sister works for a large company and this is the service they use too. Indiana is within their service range.

Thank you all! We would be flying out of Indy, stop over at JFK. So if the nonstop is $921 from Chicago, , then $1k might be in the ballpark.
