Flight schedule too tight?

After a 3 day stopover in Iceland I am flying June 13, arriving in Amsterdam at 21:00. My cousin and I have a flight booked from Amsterdam June 15 at 5:10a.m. to Zakynthos, Greece. When we arranged everything, the timing seemed good.(2 Overnights with my cousin then on to the next leg of my trip.)Do I need to worry about flight re-scheduling? or am I just borrowing trouble?

First of all I think it's a great idea to take the opportunity to see Iceland, but I'm not sure exactly what you mean by flight rescheduling, by you or by the airline? I take it you're traveling on Icelandic Air since you have the 3 days in Iceland, that may work to your benefit if they reschedule because if it's not to you liking you can travel to Amsterdam earlier by a day and if you have to stay extra in Iceland you still have that free day in Amsterdam. Outside of that I don't really see where the problem is besides the fact that the first night in Amsterday you'll be getting to your hotel somewhat late, for that make sure you have a guaranteed reservation, and the second night you may have to call it an early night to be up early (unless of course you stay up all night) to get to the airport for the early flight, one positive is you'll have an opportunity to get over any jet lag with your stops in Iceland and Amsterdam. BTW, I've never used Icelandic Air but I've read some recent posts on this site that they charge for meals so be prepared to bring your own or to pay onboard (or through their website).

Barry, Yes, I'm flying Icelandair from Toronto and doing the stopover in Iceland because 1) wow, Iceland 2) my stepdaughter lives there and 3) to get over Jetlag . I'm not worried about the meal, I would rather sleep on the plane and bring my own stuff to eat anyway. I guess I'm concerned that Icelandair may change their schedule and delay me by a day or two, cutting it too close to catch the flight to Greece.
I'm staying w my Cousin in Holland, so no worries about reservations. A one day delay I could do, but two days would screw everything up. Do you know if I would be given notice if they re-schedule a flight or cancel a flight because there are not enough passengers? Or do I need to check with the airline?

I am not sure I understand. You are arriving at Schipol at 21:00 on the 13 of June coming from Iceland (KEF?), the flight from AMS to ZTH (Transavia?) departs at 5:10 on the 15th of June. That's a 32 hours layover in AMS. How can that be too tight? Were you planning to go to a smoke bar downtown Amsterdam and you are worried of being too stoned to get back to the airport on time? Even if your flight to AMS gets canceled and it's the last flight for the day, you have nothing to worry about it. They'll rebook you for the next day on the 14th of June (if you fly Icelandic there is one at 7:40am and arriving AMS at 12:40), you'll get to AMS on time for your Transavia flight on the 15th morning.

Roberto, Hmmmm a smoke break in Amsterdam......No, that's not it. Just a bit of travel jitters. When I first booked it, I figured that I had plenty of time, but then I started worrying in case the Icelandair flight was cancelled . I wasn't sure how it would work If the flight was cancelled, say in May, would the airline be required to put me on the very next flight out, or would it be "next available flight"? which could be a few days.

Kind of like Roberto said, I think you're worrying about it too much, you have quite a bit of room on the Amsterdam side of the trip, not sure how many flights out of Iceland to Amsterdam there are everday but 2 days should give you plenty of time.

Don't worry Sylvia. Icelandic isn't going to change anything. The European carriers seem to stick to their schedules. You'll be good to go.
Your only problem is going to be carrying all that ice wine and maple syrup from the duty free!

Bets, thank goodness I'm carrying the Ice Wine and Maple Syrup at the beginning of the trip, and not at the end bringing back the bike. Although, It would be fun to make use of the saddle bags and baskets I know I will end up buying and carry everything on my Omafiets :-)

I'm not sure what the issue is. Your schedule looks a little bit tight, but now that you have those flights changing them is going to be a very expensive prospect. Just enjoy the schedule that you have and use the money not spent moving your flights around to enjoy yourself.
