I get free miles through my husband's United account. Can I book my own flight and not use the tour's airline? How would that work? Would the price of the flight be deducted from the tour's price?
Usually you can depending on the tour company. I’ve done it but it didn’t save me much.
Often you see land tour pricing with and without air.
Also, RS tours require you to book your own air and transport as well as transport to first hotel and transport to the airport after the tour.
This is a Rick Steves' tours, right? RS tours do not include airfare. You will see that under "Hotels and Flights" in the information about your tour. We can give you more information if we know more about your tour and the dates.
And to add onto Hoorsewoofie, what airport you would be starting from.
Can you clarify what tourcompany you are using?
If a tour company advertises “flights included”, “free air”, they’ll usually give a credit if you don’t use their air department.
But whenever a tour company offers to arrange flights is wise to at least price it out. I could be a very good value, letting you sake points for another time.
