I'm publishing this more as a travel alert as many people read this Helpline en-route or just before going. Italian low cost airline Windjet stopped flying due to its inability to pay for fuel or catering. It had been in a bad financial situation and it has just gone under. I know Windjet is somehow popular with Helpliners because of its many connections between Sicilia, Sardinia, Corsica and mainland airports. So if you have one of their tickets, better adopt plan B ASAP. I doubt they will fly again.
Andre L., Thanks for the FYI. The demise of budget airlines seems to be a regular occurrence these days. Hopefully EasyJet remains solvent, as that's my preferred airline in Europe. Cheers!
Ken, easyJet has deep pockets and the backing of a Greek-Irish billionaire. I doubt it would go bankrupt. It also has some scale (like Ryanair) that many of these smaller airlines didn't.
Andre L, That's good to hear! So far I've found that flights with EasyJet have been "easy" so I prefer to use them whenever possible. They are strict with the luggage rules though.
