Fiumicino Airport to Stazione Termini near Vittorio Emmanuele III

What's the best/cheapest/fastest way to get from the airport to this area in Rome? Grazie.

The best and fastest way to get from the airport to Termini station is to take the Leonardo Express train (11 euro per person). I suspect you then want to continue to a hotel near Via Vittorio Emanuele II. Bus #64 (local) or #40 (express - fewer stops) would be the least expensive option from Termini to that area and is fairly quick (1 euro per person). You might also consider a taxi from the airport - fixed rate of 40 euro for up to 4 people and bags, but be certain it's a Commune Roma taxi or the rate will be higher.

Judy,

As the others have suggested, the €11 Leonardo Express is the best option for travel from the airport to Termini (don't forget to validate your ticket). I've found that I prefer to use a Taxi from Termini to the Hotel, as after a long flight I'm not in the mood to deal with Buses, etc. There are LOTS of Taxis out front of Termini.

Happy travels!

Judy,

Frank and Ken have given you the best answers! If you have 3-4 people it may actually be cheaper to ride in a cab. As stated, they are 40 Euros and the train is 11 Euros each...

If you're familiar with the city, you can train in and walk from Termini to the VE II area - or catch the metro. On the A line it is only ONE Stop to the Vittorio Emmanuelle II Metro stop! (VE II is also a large road that runs through Rome... so not sure exactly what VE II you're referring to??)

But I like Frank & Ken's advice. After a long overseas flight, even if you ride the train in, I would catch a taxi from Termini so you're not wandering, exhausted, through Rome dragging luggage! Or just catch the cab from FCO.

The official taxi stand at FCO is on the arrivals level, outside the terminal, heading towards C terminal. Do not be swayed by folks asking, "Do you need a taxi?" Just head to the official taxi stand and get in the queue - you'll see all the cabs lined up! It often helps to have the name and address of your hotel (In Italian if possible) written out for the cab drivers!

Same rules apply at Termini if you take the train in. Head to the front of the Termini station. If you're coming FROM Track 24 (Leonardo Express comes in here)... go straight out to the left side of the building as you come from the tracks. There you will see the Termini official taxi stand. The ride will probably be less than 5 minutes if you're near VE II metro area but it beats walking around trying to read a map with bloodshot eyes!

Once established at your hotel you will realize you're in a GREAT location to see much of Rome, just by walking! The Metro Line A stops right at VE II so you'll always have easy access to Termini, other metro stops, and bus connections - Good luck and have fun!!

Ciao,
Ron
