Ferrys from Patmos to Santorini

My wife, son, and I will be visiting Ephesus at the end of June. We would like to go from Kusadasi to Patmos for a visit and then on to Santorini. Does anyone know ferry connections or how quickly one can reasonably visit Patmos and then get to Santorini? Thanks!

Mark, You might check This Website as the information should be listed somewhere. As the end of June is only a few weeks away, you'll need to get some answers quickly. You could also send an E-mail to the author of the website, as he may be able to offer some suggestions (hopefully he doesn't mind). Good luck and happy travels!

Your itinerary is going to be a little tricky because there is no airport on Patmos, and there are no direct ferries from Kusadasi to Patmos, nor from Patmos to Santorini. So you're going to be faced with a few ferry rides. (Another issue is that not all ferries along your route run 7 days a week.) You're probably going to start out by taking a ferry from Kusadasi to Samos, and then another one from Samos to Patmos. I think if I were you I'd consult a Greek travel agent once you get to Patmos, about your best option to get from there to Santorini. The reason is that there are several possible ferry routes - via various intervening islands. Your choices may also vary depending on the day of the week. I hope you and your family aren't prone to seasickness. :)

This is one of those situations that looks simple, because Kusadasi and Patmos are fairly close together, but may be very difficult to accomplish. Kusadasi to Samos and Samos to Patmos are fairly straightforward, but Patmos to Santorini could be a challenge. Your choices will likely be: 1) Ferry from Patmos back to Samos and then ferry to Santorini, or even fly via Athens
2) Ferry from Patmos down the Dodecanese island chain to Kos or Rhodes, from which you could ferry to Santorini. Using a travel agent would help sort this out, but if you want to play with this yourself in advance, here is a Greek ferry site to help you get an idea of what this trip would entail. http://www.openseas.gr/OPENSEAS/index_en.vm
