Ferry Service Samos to Mykonos

My wife and I are traveling to Mykonos and Santorini after completing the Best of Turkey tour on Sep 29, 2012. I have not been able to find ferry service from Samos to Mykonos traveling on Sep 30. Would appreciate any info

I don't have specific information, or even know where to find it. But I do know that many of the Greek islands (even the famous and popular ones) have ferry connections only to Piraeus, not to each other. So, you may have fly (which will probably also involve a connection in Athens). Since you're taking a Rick Steves tour, contact the tour office for more information about how to proceed. This board is just volunteer members of the traveling public - not RS staff.

Ferries don't run as often in late September, so if you can't find a ferry that meets your needs, you might want to look into flying. You could fly from Samos to Athens, and then fly to Santorini. From there, you could ferry to Mykonos and back to Athens. Check Aegean or Olympic airlines.

Sometimes using Greek Ferry websites for most travellers can be difficult because they do not release schedules very early and you need to know what port you will be leaving and arriving from, which port on an island sails to where, and not to mention the usual variations on spelling and abbreviations used by websites. Add to that the fact that not all routes run each day, and some websites do not seem plexible enough to show you departures the previous or next day. But if you go to www.ferries.gr, click on routes between islands and mainland, you can choose one of several ports on Samos (Karlovassi, Vathi, Ag Constantinos, and Pythagoreio are all ports on Samos)
There are also several other websites if you search "Greek Ferries" all doing about the same thing. Playing around, I found a route leaving Karlovassi to Mykonos, problem is they run on the 29th of August, and the 31st, but not on the 30th. They leave at 6:15 PM (18:15) and arrive on Mykonos at 10:20 PM. This is on Hellenic Seaways, you may be able to go directly to their website and get more details. Seeing that end of August is when the hoardes are returning to Athens, this is one of the few instances I would buy a ticket ahead if you make a choice. You may also consider contacting a travel agency in Greece.
