I will be in Spain and Portugal in April 2022. I am considering taking the ferry from Spain to England and wondering if any travelers have done this. Advice?

A few years ago we took a large, overnight ferry from Portsmouth, UK to Bilbao, Spain. It was in September 2001 and flying wasn’t an option.

Friends have attempted this route with their caravan 5 times over 5 years and have only been successful twice, as the boat running this route is prone to breaking down and their trip has been cancelled. The new replacement boat was originally planned to start a couple of years ago, but this has been postponed until 2022. For certainty, I would fly.
