Some people are reporting that Eurostar is taking people on a first-come, first served basis.

If not, this might help:

For London to Paris by ferry, this works: London Charing Cross station train to Dover Priory Station. One mile taxi ride to ferry---we took P & O, but I think SeaFrance is also an option. Ferry to Calais. Get rental car at ferry terminal (you probably should reserve ahead since these are small, not-always open rental-offices), drive to Paris CDG or French countryside. There may be trains from Calais to Paris, I don't know, since we drove. We did this trip in reverse order in June, because we wanted to see the white cliffs of Dover. It was a very pleasant, no hassle trip. A lovely overnight stop is Hotel Clery in Hesdin L'abbe, if you need an overnight.

Your cheapest option for a last-minute London-Paris-London ticket is to take a Eurolines coach (bus). It's an 8 1/2-hour ride, but you can do it overnight if you wish to save the cost of a night in a hotel and have more daylight hours for sightseeing. Normally coaches cross the English Channel on a train through the Eurotunnel, but for the time being coaches will be put on ferries. Here is a quote from the Eurolines site:

"All services scheduled to depart from London Victoria and cross the English Channel will depart on time. Channel crossings will be by ferry. In light of the situation at Eurotunnel there may be some delays at the ports due to additional traffic. We will endeavour to keep delays to a minimum. We are currently in the process of moving our departures for the coming week, scheduled to operate by Eurotunnel, to a ferry crossing."

Your departure station is LONDON, Victoria Coach Station, Greater London and your arrival station is PARIS, Eurolines coach stn, Ave du General de Gaulle, Bagnolet, FRANCE.

On the other thread. Someone mentioned that reservations were not really canceled. Just a computer glitch...

A long time ago we did the crossing from London to Paris on the Eurolines coach and I remember that we arrived at the terminal VERY early in the morning, just after dawn. The metro was open but be sure to have euros to buy tickets as the kiosques were not manned (or womanned) at such an early hour.

We were scheduled to go on Eurostar from London to Paris on Saturday the 27th returning the next day on the 28th, but they are urging people to reschedule unless their travels are urgent. We were already somewhat regretting only spending one night in Paris, and the thought of having a few hours wait to get on a train and a longer journey each way just did it for us, so we cancelled our reservations and will stay in London, which isn't a bad thing either as there is so much to do in 10 days!
