I wish to take the night ferry from Harwick to La Harve, then Amsterdam. But in checking on the net, all bookings for the night ferry must be for a cabin. Does anyone know if you can walk on the ferry, without a cabin booking?

I think you are mistaken about your route. Do you mean Harwich to Hook of Holland and then a train to Amsterdam? If so, go here for Rail and Sail information. Online booking can get you a discount fare. Even if space is available at the last minute, I don't know if you can buy a ticket that doesn't include a cabin.

A single is from £21 if you plan ahead. Totally worth it considering it is travel and accommodation.
