I am having trouble finding info about traveling via ferry from Bruges, BE to Dover, UK. Has anyone done this? Is it a good idea for vacation travelers in May? How long does it take and where do I go to find out how to purchase tickets?
Since Bruges isn't on the water any more, you'll have to book a ferry from Zeebrugge, which is only about 10 miles away. A google search will turn up a lot of booking engines for ferries across the Channel, including www.aferry.to, www.ferryoffers.co.uk, www.directferries.co.uk, www.cheapferrytickets.com. But, be that as it may, with the advent of the channel tunnel, it appears the only ferries from Zeebrugge are going to Hull or Rosyth these days. You may have to drive down the coast to Oostende where you can catch a ferry to Ramsgate, or Dunkerque for a ferry to Dover. Years ago, I took a ferry from Oostende to Dover...9 hours in a massive storm that made me as sick as I'll ever be! But in May, the weather should be pretty nice.
