After taking the ferry from Bari to Patras, is there a bus that is easy to connect with? Is there a train that is still running in 2012?

There are several options, depending on where you are going. The National Buses (KTEL) run to Athens basically hourly or more. Several Private companies operate express buses. And the National train system operates a line to Athens. Depending on cost cutting measures, the Train may certainly be disrupted, but I doubt the buses will.
