Ferry cruises on Lake Como

Has anyone done the ferry from Como to Bellagio?
We have just one full day to spend at the Lakes and thought we would take the train from Milan to Como, take the two hour cruise on the lake to Bellagio and take the ferry back after a few hours in Bellagio. Appreciate your assistance.

Thanks, Kent. I thought a longer cruise on the Lake might be enjoyable. I have explored the Varenna to Bellagio route as well and thank you for your input.
We may indeed decide to by-pass Como.

Nadine, You'll like Como... it reminds me of Lake Tahoe but with lots of Villas :)

Have a great trip!!

Kent, would it be more scenic then to go Milan to Varenna, Varenna to Bellagio and then Bellagio to Como back to Milan?
Or do you think Como is just not worth it?
Thanks!

Nadine, there's multiple ferries for the Lake. There's one that's direct to Bellagio, and there's one that takes you to every little stop.

When you get there, you'll see a bunch of ferries. Just ask for the direct or the one that stops.

We didn't know that there was an express one, and ended up with the one that took hours to get to the other end of the lake. It was fun for the first hour... but after a long day, we wanted to get to our destination

Hi Kent,
Well, we concur. After your posting yesterday I decided to read the ferry schedule a bit more throughly and have decided that we will take the train to Varenna, spend some time there, ferry to Bellagio, and then back to Varenna for the train to Milan.
I understand that the middle of the lake region is the most scenic. I really appreciate all your help and also Michelle's input.
This is my first trip to Italy and its going to be just for two days - 1 in the lake region and the other in Milan. We are coming in from Switzerland.

Happy travels,
Nadine
