Can anyone tell me the quickest route by train to Venice from the Cinque Terre?

There are numerous runs during the day. They vary in travel time from 5.5hrs-6.5hrs. The fastest run of the day that I can find leaves Venice at 7:47am. The trip takes 5hrs 7min. to get to Monterosso. On this run, you will change trains in Florence and Pisa. Note, however, that this train leaves from Mestre and not Santa Lucia. You might want to look at the 8:42 train run.

There is no good direct route. Segments may be fast (Florence to Venice or Milan to Venice) but the other segements plus changes may negate any time savings. Figure on spending most of the Day travelling.

I recently took the 8:42 a.m. train from Venice to Cinque Terre. Waited and bought my tickets in Venice with no problem. Be sure to allow more time than you think to get to the Venice train station that morning. We left our hotel in Castello using the vaparetto and barely made it on the train before it left. We got to Vernazza about 3:30 or so.
