I have researched this and it seems that the only option is a 4 -5 hr bus ride or a bus-ferry-bus rental car combo. Rental car drop charges are ridiculous and so are private shuttles. I'm surprised that there's not a transportation company that specializes in border crossings. Also would like to investigate how to pick up a Spanish car that has been dropped in Portugal and return it to Spain (which should avoid the drop fee). Hoping that the pros on this site have an update.

Pat, whichbudget.com says that Spainair flys that route...have you checked their prices? Try Autoeurope.EU (we are renting from them for our trip next week) I just checked, and for one week in June a" Seat Leon" was $358 or $414 US dollars, Faro to Seville. Kind of hard to find the second country option...just click that you want to take the car to a East block country.
