Family "Piggybacking" on my EU Passport

I have both a US and an Irish passport. My family (wife and two adult daughters) will be traveling with me to the UK next month.

I know that I can go through the usually shorter EU Immigration line upon arrival. I've been told that the rest of my family can also accompany me through the EU line even though they only have US passports.

Can anyone confirm that we can do this? I'd hate to start in the EU line only to be told that my family had to go to the end of the non-EU line.

John: My husband has an EU passport and I just follow him and show my Canadian one with never a question or problem.
