Family discount on trenitalia trains

I have made numerous notes for my upcoming trip to Italy. One of my notes says that four family members (all adults) can get a family discount of 20%. I can't find anything like that on trenitalia.com Am I mistaken or was I looking at an old post that no longer applies. Thanks, Carlene

You can see the Family Offer if you click "see other prices and offers" on the far right for your ed train. The Family Offer is actually 20% off the Base Fare for adults and 50% off for children. However, you can often do better with the Super Economy and Economy Fares. For example, using a random date in September (6 Sept.) and a Frecciarossa train from Milan to Florence, it shows a total of 88 euros for the 4 tickets using Economy fares. The Family Offer comes to 130 euros. And if you happen to be traveling on Sunday, 9 Sept., there are still Super Economy tickets left for four traveling together, for a total of 36 euros. In the Italian language version there is also a "Bambini gratis" (children free) offer for families traveling with at least one child under 12, but I cannot find it in the English version. The instructions in Italian say to use that "see other prices and offers" key and then go from there, but if you don't read Italian it would be complicated. I'd just go with the Economy and Super Economy fares.

If you click on the Familia discount on the page on the Trenitalia website that shows information about fares, you get a "404" error. However, if you go through the booking process - pick 2 adults, 2 children, to, from, & date, then pick a train - you will get four options (or at least I did for the train I picked from Rome to Venice). These options were Base, Familia, Economy, and Super Economy, in that order of price. Super Economy was the least expensive at about half of Base. Familia is only 20% off of Base.

Thanks for the help. I checked the family box, butit appears that four adults are not eligible for the rate. It came up that we needed at least one child to qualify for the rate. I decided to go with the Economy rate, which is probably about the same price as the discounted Base rate.
