Can anyone tell me when the airlines usually start their Fall Sales? We're trying to book a flight to MUC in September, and the flights seem

Flights to Munich may be expensive innSeptember because that is prime time. Oktoberfest starts on Sept. 21, and many people fly in earlier and tour Germany before going to the Fest. I would not expect prices to come down at this point, unless you Get lucky and catch a random price drop. Maybe look into flying someplace else and taking the train to Munich?

KLM/Air France are already touting "sales" for the end of September. Out of Detroit, which I guess is your airport, the prices are about a couple of hudred dollars less than the summer peak, but at least two hundred dollars more than last fall.

I usually fly DTW to FRA because I like the nonstop aspect. You might try that and if it is substantially cheaper you could take a train to Munich.
