Exploring France - Paris, normandy, Nice and Dordogne valley

We'd be covering the above mentioned places during our stay in France. From France we will go to Italy - Milan,Venice, Rome, Naples. We will start in Paris but then on we dont really know how to plan our trip. I am particularly struggling to get in and out of Dordogne ( since we wont be travelling in a car ). We'd be spending around 10 days in France. Please advise us on the best way to cover these places. Thanks in advance

In 2009, I did the following by train/bus: Paris > Bayeux > Mont St. Michel > Loire Valley > Sarlat/Dordogne (and then south from there). That was 8 days in itself, spending only a few hours in Paris. And in 2008, I spent 3 wonderful days in the Nice/Monaco area. As much as I loved my time there, maybe you should eliminate the Dordogne? From Paris to Normandy is easy by train, from Paris to Nice is easy by train, but Paris > Normandy > Dordogne > Nice is not easy. Three days in Paris, two days in Normandy, and 3 days in Nice would work, then you could spend more time in your other (Italian) locations or add somewhere else in France (such as a day in Provence or another Paris day-trip). Trip sounds wonderful! Have a great time!

if you have only 10 days in france i'd just do paris first, and normandy or dordogne but not both. normandy is a little better without a car. i think dordogne you really need a car. you can swing by nice for a day on your way to italy.

The Dordogne is one of my favorite places in France, but I do not think it works with your itinerary without a car. Your best trip is the one you can have--10 days in France is fabulous.
