Expensive Chunnel Train - options?

Just checked prices for chunnel train from Paris to London on Jan 3, 2012. $187 using eurostar.com and raileurope.com. There are 6 of us traveling. Is there a cheaper website or another recommended mode of travel?
Our return flight to California leaves London 4 Jan.

Unfortunately you've left it until late. Eurostar tickets are less expensive if you buy them way ahead (they go on sale 4 months in advance). The trains must be filling up that day, as I see two are already fully booked. There are online promotional codes for London to Paris (10% discount) but I can't see anything for Paris to London. You might try the man in Seat 61 for tips on finding discount tickets: http://www.seat61.com/London-to-Paris-by-train.htm Otherwise you may have to fly.

Your cheapest option at this late date would be to take an overnight Eurolines coach departing at 21:00 on 3 January and arrving at 05:30 on 4 January. If that won't allow you to get to the airport in time to catch your flight, then you could depart on 3 January at 09:00, 10:00, 11:00. 12:00 or 14:00 and either spend the night in London or at an airport hotel. It's an 8-hour ride. If you decide to fly, easyJet from CDG to Luton most likely will be your cheapest airline.

Did you try and see what a return ticket would cost, sometimes they are cheaper then the one way ones,, then just don't use the return.

Thank you for all your help. I am learning so much from planning this trip! Yesterday I paid 113E/person for 6 persons for the last chunnel train to London. My daughter in London found a cheaper fare at 75 GBP =87E. Should I cancel the original trip and pay cancellation fee or does eurostar offer a 24 hr. reprieve as airlines do? Thank you.

I wouldn't wait to see if someone answers the question about canceling vs. a reprieve. Call them and ask (or check the website for cancellation regulations).
