I have purchased two tickets for Milan to Venice. However,if I arrive earlier than when my train is scheuled to depart, I would like to exchange these tickets for an earlier train, (of course depending if they are available). The tickets I purchased are 2 first class tickets with seat reservations. Has anyone exchanged a ticket in Milan central station? Is it a hassle? Do they honor railpass tickets purchased in the USA for an exchange. Of course I do not speak Italian!
Tnanks for your help.
What do you mean by "railpass tickets?" Are these point to point tickets you purchased from a railpass vendor, like RailEurope? If so, you must check for their conditions of sale for the type of ticket you purchased and, if changes are available, you'll have to go thru them. Some types offered by RailEurope(even first class) cannot be changed...that's why the price is lower. This condition won't change at the ticket office in Italy. If this is a "reservation" to go with a railpass, then, again, whoever sold you the reservation will be the ones to talk to.
