My sister and I have purchased Eurrail passes for 5 days of travel in Spain and France for our trip in a week and a half (We leave this weekend and will be in Lille, France for the first week). I just learned about French reservations and I am wondering if it is worth it to scramble to try and make reservations and try to have them sent to our hotel in Lille or if we should just risk it and hope there are openings. My understanding is that is the Eurrail pass seats are full we must just purchase regular tickets. Does anyone know if A) it is possible to make reservations and pick up the tickets at the train station or by e-ticket B) if it is highly likely the Eurrail passes will be sold out C) If it is very expensive to purchase passes outside of the Eurrail tickets if we have to.
Our travel schedule is Paris to St. Emilion to St. Jean-de-luz to San Sebastian to Bilbao to Madrid.
