Eurowings- Avoid

I have flown lots of discount airlines in Europe - Vueling, Ryan, Easy Jet and others. I figured they were all a gamble and most would eventually you where you need to go. Not so with Eurowings. I’d heard about their abysmal customer service, how they cancel flights and then give you no help or way to contact them. I still bought a ticket from Berlin to Stockholm. The flight was overbooked, not because they sold too many tickets, but because the sent a smaller aircraft. They already knew who they were going to allow to board and who not- it was already coded in the computer. Still they let us attempt the charade of scanning our boarding passes. This was a decision that was made hours, or even days in advance, yet we were the last to know. The agent sent us to wait 3 hours for our luggage and we were given no further assistance from the airline. I’ll have to see what I can claim for compensation once I get all my receipts together. I could deal with the canceled flight, but the lack of help was astounding.

That sort of subterfuge really should no be tolerated by the regulations. I think Eurowings does owe you compensation since they canceled your flight. They also did not get you to your destination within three hours of your original arrival time. Note that Eurowings is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lufthansa, whose airport ground crews are scheduled to strike this Wednesday, July 27.
