Eurostar train from Paris to London via Chunnel

My husaband and I are looking for the least expensive way to travel Eurostar through the Chunnel from Paris to London. Our requirements - least expensive but reserved seats. Do all "reservations" incorporate guaranteed seat assignments (ie: economy class)

In general terms, a ticket allows you to ride the train, whether it be in a non-reserved seat or if you stand. A reservation is an extra charge that guarantees you a particular seat. And if somebody is sitting in your reserved seat, they have to get out of it. But on almost all (if not all) high-speed trains, such as the Eurostar, your purchase price includes a reservation.

All seats on the Eurostar are reserved. The reservation is included in the fare. Prices vary widely depending upon day of the week, time of day, and how many tickets are left for a particular train. Fares can be as low as $67 US and sometimes a return (roundtrip) fare is less than a single (one-way) fare. If that turns out to be true for you, pick an arbitrary return date, book a return ticket, and throw away the unused portion. Book at www.eurostar.com.

The best way is to book a RETURN journey at http://www.sncf.fr/indexe.htm...then you can pick up your tickets in Paris. A return fare can be as low as 77 Euro (no changes, no refunds) and up (if you wish to be able to change or refund your tickets). Simply throw away the return portion if you're only planning to go one way. It's still far cheaper than booking a one-way ticket....check out one-way trips to see the difference. Again, check the fare conditions on each ticket being offered to make sure it's flexibile enough for your needs. You can book Eurostar tickets 120 days in advance. If booking thru SNCF, DO NOT sign up for travel insurance. Otherwise, they will ask for your address and reject you, because you live in the states and are supposed to be purchasing through RailEurope :)

Specifically, same-day return tickets are the cheapest. Though from my experience, that rate was the same as a one way fare. So really no savings if all you need is one way.
