Eurostar security & arrival times

We'll be taking the chunnel from London to Paris in late June and staying in the Victoria Station area of London. I notice the Eurostar trains before 8:00 are almost $20/ticket cheaper. Is it worth it? How much time do we need to give ourselves for security & seating on the Eurostar? Is it like an airport where we should be there two hours early, or is an hour to 30 minutes early OK?

Say we take the 7:27 train - what time do you think we should be leaving our hotel to give ourselves enough time?

We're trying to decide if it's worth the money to leave early, or if sleeping a bit longer is the better option :)

Thanks,
Darrell

You should be at St Pancras at least 30 minutes before departure. The new St Pancras station is amazing so you many want to arrive even earlier to check out the station, and garb a bit to eat.

Darrell - You only need to arrive 30 minutes prior, but I agree with Michael arrive early and check out the station.

Remember that France is an hour ahead of the UK, so your 7:27 am train will arrive at Gare du Nord at about 10:45 Paris time....just in good time to check into your hotel and think about where to have lunch.

It's a ten-minute Tube ride on the Victoria Line from Victoria to King's Cross/St Pancras and then about a five-minute walk to St Pancras International.

The fact that you've found cheaper tickets for early departures on the day you wish to go to Paris has nothing to do with the departure time per se. It means that more tickets have already been sold for later trains. There is a variety of discount fares for each departure time. As more tickets are sold, the price keeps going up. Pick a departure time and book now!
