I'm planning a trip to France in March and the way the dates are working I'll end up coming back from Paris to London on Good Friday. Are there any regular Eurostar travellers here who know if there are frequently engineering works on the route at Easter? Yes, I know I'll have to get in soon if I'm going to have any chance of getting a decent fare.
<<bump>> sorry, Philip, don't know; but I should have thought that if there were it would flag up as you bought your ticket. Its probably too early to get anything off the Eurostar or National Rail websites. Good luck - keep a weather eye open...
I don't know anything more than either of you, but I'm just thinking that surely they would specifically avoid doing works on Easter weekend given the presumably moderately high traffic because of the holiday and also because of giving as many workers as possible the holiday to avoid paying them holiday pay. But that's just a lame attempt at an answer; I hope someone with some insight will respond to you soon (although if Nigel doesn't know, I think you may be out of luck!).
No, Sundays and holidays are a big time for engineering work because working day commuters and business travellers are seen as higher priority.
