Eurostar from St. Pancras

I've taken the Eurostar in to St. Pancras from Brussels but never out.

Is there a "good" time in so far as being less crowded to depart from St. Pancras? I'll be in London in February and will be taking the Eurostar to Paris. I'm debating between leaving between 7 and 8 a.m. or waiting until 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. I don't have to be in Paris at a specific time but have heard it can get quite congested at the Eurostar check-in. Is that because you can check in for your train at any point at St. Pancras? (In Brussels, we couldn't check in until 45 minute prior and so the lines weren't terrible.)

Any info, advice and opinion is much appreciated!

I'm not sure there is a good time for the Eurostar as far as lineups or crowds are concerned. You have to be at the lineup for security and passport control at least an hour in advance of your departure time.

Don't forget that you lose an hour, and you need to be there about an hour ahead. Early in the day there will several trains, so the day executive commuters can get in, but they are usually gone as late as 7. If a train leaves at 7ish it doesn't get to Brussels or Paris until 10:30, too late for commuters.

Thank you! I'm really considering the 7:55 train - - hopefully the Underground won't be quite so full earlier in the morning -- and thinking I should plan to be at St. Pancras by 6:45, to be on the safe side. It looks like there are quite a few food options once you clear security so breakfast would certainly be in order.

You might ask a separate question in the England area about commuter crowds in the Tube that time of the morning. It might be lighter than, say, after 7 am, or maybe not. We found it brutal at 8 am and will not attempt that ever again with luggage!!!

I am assuming this will be a weekday?

Thank you -- that's an excellent suggestion.

Yes, this will be a weekday - - a Wednesday. And I'll only have a carry-on but still . . .

Price varies with time slot, especially on business days. Look for a pretend booking to get an idea.
