Eurostar from London to Paris

I am planning to fly open jaw and go from London to Paris by train, probably on a Sunday (mid-September).

The cheapest tickets seem to be 1/2 price if bought in advance on line. I am over 59, so I can also qualify for the senior price - which seems to be about $1 less.

How much in advance do I need to purchase the ticket?

How can I ensure getting a forward-facing window seat?

Any problems paying with a US credit card online?

Thanks for all the help (past, present and future).

Chani, it's good to see you here again. I've taken the ES trip you describe many times. If you go for the cheapest ticket, you will most likely be assigned a seat but have a choice of aisle or window. I think I've always had forward-facing seats at the very end of the coach. I recommend that you buy your ticket as soon as you can commit. Prices only go up, not down, as the date grows nearer or the cheaper tickets get sold.

I have used a US credit card without a problem. I was able to print my ticket at home the last couple of times. But printing a ticket at the St Pancras station is easy; you do need to have the credit card you used to buy the ticket. If you don't have that card, there is probably a way you can still get your ticket by going to a ticket window.

thanks, Swan. Gosh, I miss the Bay Area - but I love where I am.

Are you familiar with this website: www.seat61.com - it's all about the Eurostar by "the man in seat 61". Fun to read and tells you all and more you need to know.

Just bought tickets for my wife and me from Paris to London and then London to Brussels on the Eurostar. Used my AmericanExpress with no problems. I was able to select my seats - you see graphic representations of the cars with windows and everything. I booked both trips together (not really open jaw, but essentially the same thing - just no discount).

You can select your seat even afterwards, by going to "manage my reservation" I believe.
