Eurostar from Brussels to London

We are taking the Eurostar from Brussels to London fro the first time in July. What can we expect? In other words, what is the process in Brussels Midi? We are connecting from Brugge.

We are familiar with taking the Eurostar from Paris Nord to London. Is it basically the same?

Thanks.

Hi, I'm surprised no one else answered already! Have only been pre-bombings so not sure if anything's changed recently. I recall going thru passport control on the Belgian side and then you enter a Eurostar-only waiting area with coffee shop etc. At St. Pancras you just exit with the masses. I'm pretty sure I'm remembering that correctly. So essentially similar experience as London to Paris on a smaller scale. The only time I did Nord to Brussels was back in 1999, and we just walked to the platform--I'm guessing it's different now! :)

You will go through an airport like security screening. However, keep shoes on and no limits on liquids. I assume security will be tighter and slower.

Yes, it is much the same. Be there around an hour ahead. When you get off your inbound train, it is well signed and you will just follow the corridor around to the Eurostar entrance.

Unlike in Paris where the tracks are on one level and check in is up the stairs, in Brussels the platforms are upstairs and all the shops and check in are on the same level - street level - below.

Thank you, everyone.

We will plan to leave Brugge earlier than we first planned to allow for tighter security and passport check in Brussels. We took the Eurostar from Paris Nord to London last July, so we are familiar with the process.

How extensive are the offerings at the coffee shop in the Erurostar-only waiting area? Would we be able to pick up something for breakfast to take on our 7:55am train?

The cafe has a variety of sandwiches, croissants and other pastries. Not great value for money as is usual in such locations. I assume it opens in time for the very early trains, but you could check with Eurostar.

Going from London St. Pancras to Brussels on the Eurostar. Then Brussels to Brugge. This is the first time for us to use the Eurostar. What time should we be at the London station to go through security and be ready to board our train for Brussels, if say, our train leaves at 11:00am? I am trying to figure out what time is needed for boarding so we are on time.
Thanks.

Diane

you have woken a thread where the poster has been and gone, from April.

Now they will get an email, not you.

Figure on an hour before departure.
