Eurostar Check In

Eurostar's website states "insert your ticket into the machine" to check in. The "ticket/reservation" which I have in hand doesn't look like something I would insert into a machine - no bar code, etc. Would someone who has travelled Eurostar lately please clue me in? Thanks

Well I had a booking number I was supposed to enter, but it didn't work , so I went to Kiosk , and they just asked to see my CC that I used for booking, and then gave me my ticket , took only minutes.
Eurostar is really well run and efficent, nothing like airlines,, which are all a mess! LOL

Also, the conductors carry wireless PDA type devices. They can punch in the number from your paper and confirm your ticket. I haven't done this but I've seen the conductor use the device. Also, you can insert your paper into the yellow ticket validation machine. It's not a bar code reader. It stamps the time and other info onto the paper. However, and someone can correct me, I don't think you need to validate tickets on the Eurostar as your ticket has the date, train number, time and seat number on it. It's only good for that particular train run. I do think that you must validate on all other train runs.

Ticket validation, a la Eurostar : machine "eats" your ticket and spits it back out. The French validation posts are the ones that (yellow, 3-4ft high) stamp the time on tickets to validate them. Use the Eurostar ones, not the French ones.

Also: arrive at the station no less than 30 minutes before departure. If you arrive late, they have the right to keep you off the train.

It has been 3 years since I last took the Eurostar, but at the time, I exchanged my paper print out for a cardboard ticket that fit into the machines at the reservation desk in the terminal. I'd just plan to arrive a little early so that if you need to pick up a ticket you can.

On our trip from London to Brussels last October, our printed tickets (delivered to us in the US) were not accepted in the machines. The helpful staff monitoring the machines just waved us over to a booth and an employee checked us in.
