Eurostar at 30

Very interesting report by DW German television on Eurostar at 30, I didn't realize how close they came to bankruptcy during COVID. And now they are trying to swallow Thalys. Interesting that as their ridership goes up, so do the fares - logically one would expect the opposite. All the train vloggers hate that it's so much cheaper to fly than Chunnel, but it's also less convenient.

On a recent trip to London I seriously considered a quickie daytrip to Paris but the prices were just too crazy for a few hours of baguettes and berets.

Not necessarily.

It is easier for people to choose to ride the train than it is for the train company to conjure up more train cars and staff, in he same time period. Am I correct in thinking Eurostar has a monopoly on "Chunnel" * passenger trains?
