EuroRail Seat Reservation on Trenitalia

I have a EuroRail Global Pass. Trying to make seat reservations on the train from Rome to Zurich Switzerland. Trenitalia only allows reservations made in person at rail station. I'm in Norway and will arrive Rome 4 days before departure. Any suggestions on how to make a reservation prior to my arrival in Italy? Thanks in advance!!

Thanks to everyone that replied :) I did actually figure out the need to split the trip into 2 legs and was then able to reserve seats. The Rome/Milan leg allowed me to print the ticket online. The Milan/Zurich leg will require me to go to one of the automated terminals in Milan to print that one prior to boarding. Sadly, the agent I spoke with at Tranitalia was unable to reveal this process and simply told me to "take my chances" once I got to Rome and deal with it then. After spending $1700 on a global pass and being "promised" it was a seamless and painless way to travel via rail "anywhere in Europe" I am discovering that like most things, there's a bit of a learning curve. Hopefully my experience will help someone else in the future :)

OK, good. So it works the same for getting passholder reservations as for buying tickets on Trenitalia? Internal tickets/reservations you can print at home; cross-border tickets (like Milan to Zurich) you get a code and pick them up in Italy?

For reasons unknown, the new version of trenitalia.com doesn't show "Global pass" under the "More fares" heading. (The old one did.) As Sasha said, fsitaliane.it does.

You'll need separate reservations for Roma-Milano and Milano-Zuerich. You could buy seat reservations at raileurope.com and have them mailed to you in Norway. Or you could simply wait and buy them when you get to Rome.

Why woulnd't it work to use the "Global Pass" option under "more fares" on Trenitalia? (Or try fsitaliane which seems to be easier). I just tried the website for both those routes, Rome to Milano Centrale and MC to Zurich, and got a global Pass price of 10 euro each, which is the reservation fee.

Yep...the tranitalia.it site doesn't show the Global Pass dropdown anymore. The other site seemed to work for me. No clue if it's only the multi country trips that prevent you from getting an online ticket..guess I'll find out when I travel from Zurich into Germany and then into France.
