europebyair.com $99 flight pass

Has anyone purchased and used the $99 flight pass? I understand that the airport taxes are not included. How much are those, double? And are there any other "catches" or cons to purchasing/using this service? Many thanks.

Maybe I'm just a skeptic, but it sounds shady (or at least suspiciously vague) to me. This isn't a "pass", just a ticket. And why on earth would you want to purchase nonrefundable one-time tickets for $99 when you can routinely get tickets on the smaller airlines for half of that or less? In May I flew from London Stansted to Santander, Spain via Ryanair for 14.99 GBP plus taxes, the total was about $65.00. I also flew from Oviedo, Spain back to London via Easyjet for 10 euro plus taxes. The total was about $30.00. Investigate some of the smaller European airlines before you take a chance on this thing.

Thanks very much for your thoughts.

I have flown easyjet and ryanair and am familiar with their deals.

I was thinking about using this for a more expensive flight out of Croatia.

From where to where? There are probably still other options.

A couple of years ago I used one of these passes for a Venice-Palermo flight. The extra charges upon departure were something like $40-50. Apparently the taxes and other charges vary according to the airport or town.

I am using this for a flight to Zagreb in a few weeks. My research has turned up that taxes run around $30 a ticket. The "con" is that you have to go the airline ticket counter to deal with this before you fly so you need extra time.

For the "trash" talkers. This fare was over $150 LESS then ANYTHING else even with the "taxes" Even in Europe Budget airlines don't go everywhere!!!!

Hi Carol,
Thanks so much. I was hoping to hear from someone who actually had used them.

It sounded a little too good to be true at first but thanks for confirming the validity. Have fun in Zagreb! I'm actually visiting Dubrovnik, Korcula and Split.

Tracy,
I don't have a link, but there was a poster on the Fodors board who posted on using his. He felt that in his case he wound up not saving much but I seem to recall he had "two" flights to get to his destination which meant two $99 coupons. In that case, it is generally better to just buy a ticket!
