I am planning a trip to Paris and Madrid and am trying to find the best way to get from Paris to Madrid. The train seems to the best option to save in hotel and air fare but I am inexperienced and need some advice. I found the following website (http://www.eurorailways.com/products/night_trains/paris_to_madrid.htm?_kk=346796e9-e2a0-4c02-8686-6060e066840b&_kt=8249266256&gclid=CKnQoLKmnK4CFWgZQgodXEZYKg) offering a night train from Paris to Madrid. A private Gran Class cabin for my travel buddy and I would be $298/person. The fare includes a private room, shower, and meals. Can someone please let me know if this is a good deal? A reputable company? Do we store luggage in our room? And any other applicable advice? Also, I am unsure of where the train stations are. The Paris location says "Paris Austerlitz" and the Madrid location says "Madrid Chamartin" but I am having trouble finding these on a map. We are staying at the Marriott Champs-Elysees in Paris and meeting up with family in Madrid. I just want to make sure the train station in Paris is close to the hotel and the Madrid location is close to the airport. Our travel dates are in May of this year. Should I purchase tickets now? My travel buddy and I have never been to Europe and are feeling a little overwhelmed and intimidated so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
I took the route your taking in reverse, that is I traveled on the Elipsos from Madrid to Paris. That price seems a bit high but I see you're paying for a private room so that may be the case. I did a shared room with others and had no problems with it, in fact it was nice. Your going to get a lot of different views on night train travel. Have you contacted ETBD office near you in Edmonds, they may have a better deal for this trip, and they can give you some insight. The Madrid Chamartin train station is kind of to the north part of the city and the airport is at the northeast side, not really close but then again not on opposite sides of the city. If I remember right Austerlitz on the southern side of Paris. Both train stations are easily accessable by the Metros.
