We arriving in Brussles before noon in 3 weeks and have a EuroRail pass, our goal is to hop off the plane and make one of the 3 available trains to departing to Paris within a 2 hour period. Are reservations needed between these destinations and what happens if we make them and our flight is delayed
Reservations are required on the Thalys.
The direct trains are 4 hrs 9 mins.
There are also IC (Intercity) trains that leave A'Dam and you change to the Thalys in Brussels - 4 hrs 39 mins.
You receive a very nice meal on the Thalys as you wil be traveling 1st class with your Eurail Pass. Try to get a compartment.
Reservations are required on Thalys trains; but if seats are available, you can make reservations up until shortly before departure. Wait until you get to Brussels to make your reservation. Go to the train station at the airport, have your pass validated at the ticket window, and make a reservation (11 EUR with a 2nd class pass and 25 EUR with a 1st class pass) at the same time for the next Thalys train that you will have time to catch at Bruxelles-Midi after taking an InterRegio train from the airport to the Midi station. Reservations are not even possible on InterRegio trains. Just jump on (after first validating your pass, etc.).
OOPS.
Thought I read you were arriving in A'Dam.
