Per Rick's suggestion I looked up Eurail Spain 'n Drive on the web. Under "Here's what you get" is the following: "Unlimited train travel." Then two lines down it says: "Choice of 3, 4 or 5 days of train travel. I must be getting old. I am. It is unlimited train travel or 3, 4 or 5 days train travel?

It is unlimited train travel ON YOUR 3,4 or 5 DAYS of travel. So on each day of active use of your pass, you can ride the train as much as you want.

And you will still have to pay any required reservation fees, which can be pretty steep on the AVE trains.
